Born in Pinos Puente, a village in Granada in 1975, Jesús Rafael García, chose Rafael Amargo as his artist’s name.
He was a dancer who showed a great deal of talent from a young age. He moved to Madrid when he was sixteen years old, where he worked on his dancing with Ciro and Alejandro Granados. Some years later he became a soloist in a number of companies such as Rafael Aguilar, Antonio Canales and ’La Chunga‘.
He lived in Japan and directed many Japanese flamenco performances. He has danced in Miami, Cannes and London. His popularity has grown even more due to his work as actor in films such as Tirante el blanco by Vicente Aranda.
