María ’La Canastera‘
María Cortés Heredia, known as La Canastera, was born in Granada in 1913. From a very young age she was a famous dancer at the zambras in the Sacromonte district. Many flamenco experts saw her unique way of performing the most traditional Granada styles of flamenco. Her zambra, which today is almost like a museum, is one of the most popular in Sacromonte quarter.
