The rescue of an American aeroplane walk

On 8th March 1960 an aeroplane with US Marines on board crashed into the side of Picón de Jérez. The weather was very bad, but with much courage and intimate knowledge of the mountains the people of Jérez, Lanteira and other villages managed to rescue many of the wounded. This walk is dedicated to the memory of those people.
Here turn left near the Acequia de Cogollos. The path will start to rise slightly continuing along the Lomilla del Viento. Leave the Río Alhorí to your left, pass the Barranco del Maguillo and you will reach Posterillo.
The path turns into a pavement at this point and crosses the Barranco de Hervás near the Corral de Ferrer. You will reach the Cortijo de Isaac, another landmark in the rescue operation.
Follow the path from the Cortijo de Isaac in the direction of Cortijo de Rosetas. Here the trail connects with Sulayr GR 240 (stage: Postero Alto – Peña Partida), where both paths coincide to form Cañá de Mahoma. It is a slightly steeper climb to the Corral Nuevo, another landmark in the rescue operation of the American aeroplane.
The path continues along the Sulayr, slightly steeper than before, taking the turn to Cañá de Mahoma. Turn left and you will notice the slope becoming steeper at the Piedras de los Lobos. Continue below the Praos de Tesoro up to the Barranco del Tesoro, and you will reach the Acequia del Corazón.
