The DO Granada for wines was created in 2009 in recognition of the efforts of local winemakers who have been producing excellent wines in recent years.
There are currently more than 60 wine producers in the province farming 5500 hectares of vines. Together they produce between 30 and 40 million kilos of grapes every year. Provided they meet the requirements, they all have the possibility being assigned the official label: D.O. Vinos de Calidad de Granada.
This label is given to wines that adhere to certain standards of production, aging and bottling and can only be given to wines made from the following grape varieties:
