Tourist information

Purchil, which in Arabic means ‘Tower of the Moon’, is the main city of the municipality of Vegas del Genil. The town’s church is dedicated to St. Joseph and contains a number of interesting and valuable works of art. Of particular interest is the anonymous sculpture of the Virgen de los Dolores from the 16th century, two statues by Pedro de Mena from the late 17th century, a Madonna and Child and a Virgen de Belén.
