Játar
Tourist information
The town of Játar, is perched on the foothills of the Sierra de Játar, which is the area’s main green space. It is popularly known in the region as ‘the village of water and goat meat’. It was not very badly affected by the earthquake in 1884, but one entire neighbourhood did have to be rebuilt. The cost of rebuilding was borne by the Prensa Asociada de Barcelona (Associated Press of Barcelona) and for that reason the district was given the name of ‘Barrio de Cataluña’. There are numerous paths for hiking in the surrounding area.
