This is a welcoming and refreshing place for people and animals. It was here that there was a resting place, La Venta, along the Camino Real de Granada. It was probably erected on the site of a Roman building judging by the remains and columns found here, which are thought to be part of a shrine dedicated to the gods of water. San Juan de la Cruz is thought to have visited this site in the 16th century, when he was on the way to found a monastery in Granada.
