This Moorish watchtower dates back to the 14th century. From here you can see the whole valley of the Río Cubillas, from the mountains and plains of Iznalloz all the way to the reservoir of Cubillas and the nearby villages. It was part of a network used by the Arabs to communicate and warn against attacks – therefore it played a key part in the Reconquista. It was used to communicate with the watchtowers of the Sierra Elvira, the SierraPíñar and the Castillo de Iznalloz.
