Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción

LoadingAdd to My Granada

This is the most interesting building in the town of Alamedilla. Although the documents preserved in the parish archives do not make reference to it prior to 1730, it is known that the construction of this church started in the mid-16th century and continued well into the 17th century. Inside there is an interesting woodcarving of Christ on the Cross, the work of Espinosa, a sculptor from Granada, who made it in 1939 on the request of Doña Loreto Jerez Sánchez, who donated it to the church in memory of her late husband.
