Fuente Agria

LoadingAdd to My Granada

This is spring that dyes the fountain and its immediate surroundings red because of the high levels of iron that its water contains.  The source has several pipes, and strangely enough the taste of the water that flows from each one is slightly different.

Its waters were already recommended by the Academy and the Medicine Athenaeum in Paris in 1832. The spring is located on the outskirts of Pórtugos, towards Trevélez, next to the sanctuary of the Virgen de las Angustias. The water dug out a place next to it known as El Chorreón, a small grotto from which a small waterfall flows.
