The crypt is dedicated to the Capuchin monk, Fray Leopoldo de Lapandeire, who was beatified in 2010. It is located just below the church on the elegant Plaza del Triunfo. It has become a pilgrimage destination attracting visitors from all over Spain.
On the 9th day of every month (the anniversary of the death of this monk) a large number of visitors come to pay their respects and to make an offering of flowers. When they leave they can take one flower from the many bunches that are piled up on Fray Leopoldo’s grave.
