Located on a rocky platform that towers over the path leading up to the Puerta de La Ragua, this castle was an important building in the Caliphate period, probably dating back to the 11th century. The pottery fragments found on the site and in the surrounding area date back to the Nasrid period, i.e. to the 13th and 14th centuries. The castle retains is original enclosure, several pieces of wall with remains of some towers, one of which is semi-circular. The ruins of a smaller tower that could be the gateway to the fortress can also be seen.
