Arab baths. El Agua en Al-Andalus Interpretive Centre

LoadingAdd to My Granada

These Arab baths date back to 1566 and were recently discovered in the basement of the old council building of Dólar. They are made up of three rooms with typical Moorish vaults. An education centre recently opened here called ‘El Agua en Al-Ándalus’. It centres on the theme of water, its use and its role in washing in Nasrid culture between the 13th and 15th centuries.

A tour of the centre tells the story of the importance of water in Muslim culture. In the bathroom area you can understand the role that water played in medieval Andalusian society. Before visiting the baths, you can look at an interactive picture of what the baths would have looked like so many years ago.
