Almagruz is an exhibition centre that explains all about cave life in the northern area of the province of Granada. Caves have been used for centuries and are still used today. The Almagruz centre is made up of three sections:
Casa de Labranza: This is a 17th-century family cave dwelling containing a permanent exhibition of household furnishings.
Cuevas en Acantilado: These caves show the evolution of the troglodyte habitat from Prehistoric times to today. The caves have had different uses over time, including being used as a necropolis and as granaries, dovecotes and refuges.
Learning Centre: This cave has different rooms where archaeological objects, crafts and artefacts of local tradition are on display.
Almagruz also organises educational and craft workshops, cultural and sporting activities as well as offering rural tourism options.
