Difficulty: High.
Depth: Maximum depth 40 m and mean depth 30 m.
Access: Access by boat only.
Estimated duration: 30 min.
Recommended weather conditions: Moderate breeze (4 force), better east winds than west winds.
This highly exposed immersion resembles immersion 9 “Piedras Altas” due to weather conditions, depth and the ecosystems that can be observed on it. It is recommended only for experienced divers and with the corresponding qualification.
The dive is centered in a crevice that falls deeply to reach 40 m depth, where we will avoid staying more than 10 min at the bottom. From the surface we will go down gradually observing the colonies of Candelabrum Coral (Dendrophyllia ramea) and Orange Coral (Astroides calycularis) that will accompany us in the descent. If fortune is on our side we can find majestic sunfish and some other pelagics such as greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili). In the end we will have some Anthias anthias.
With the support ship without anchoring you must jump and descend directly crossing the large blocks that give name to this dive. A depth of 35 m is reached very easily so the route will be brief, always watching not descend much more but always enjoying the surroundings. The ascent will be done by marking our position with the Deco buoy and avoiding getting too close to the rock to ease the maneuvers of the vessel.
