Spirituality in the Alpujarra
Placed 1,600 metres above sealevel in the Alpujarra district, the Osel Ling Buddhist Centre is focused on practising meditation in retirement. The manager is a Spanish Buddhist nun and there are ten people living there with a cow, a cat and three dogs with Tibetean names. From the hill of this ancient house The white Mulhacén peak and the white villages of the Poqueira Gully can be seen: Capileira, Pampaneira and Bubión. A perfect place not only for Buddhists but also for those who need anti-stress treatment, to be away from the noisy city and to find themselves. The air is pure, the silence is amazing and peace is complete. The ‘stupa’, the typical Buddhist monument that represents the enlightened mind of the Buddha, is the symbol that identifies the centre.
