This district of Loja is the most populated, and the one that is to greater altitude. It was born at the beginning of the XX century. It has good cultivation lands, where vegetables and fruit trees confer to its citizens one of the higher standards of life of the rural area of Loja. In the surrounding area, in the Sierra Martilla, the megalithic set of dolmens corresponding to the Prehistoric period is located.
