It is a beautiful locality with narrow and steep streets located in the Southern skirt of the Almijara Mountain range. Lentejí has a steep and splendid mountainous landscape, with areas of pine and aromatic plants, with fountains and springs. This surroundings are good for the practice of trekking and other activities outdoors. From the places of Entresierra and the cortijadas of Aguas Blanquillas and Guardajama it is possible to enjoy magnificent views. In Guardajama there is a fresh water fountain that provides water to the entire fertile plain of the surrounding area. The Sequero is a recreation area that is very well equipped.
Although there are not historical references of its origin, Lentejí had to know the presence of the Phoenicians and the Romans, although its first inhabitants go back in time much more, because it has been found an archaeological site that dates from the Neolithic period in a place called Los Caserones. During the Arab time it gain prosperity that finished with the arrival of the Reconquest at the end of the XV century, the rebellion of the moriscs in the XVI century and their expulsion, with the consequent depopulation that caused in the area and the later repopulation with old Christians during the reign of Felipe II.
The gastronomy of this town takes advantage and mixes the subtropical products that are cultivated in the area with traditional products. Among the subtropical ones, the most common fruit in the town is the medlar, although also the avocado and the cherimoya are cultivated, and in smaller scale, and almost for the supply of the population other fruits and vegetables. About the dry land, there are plantations of almonds tree and olive trees, which give excellent oil for the domestic consumption.
