Castillo de Tajarja

Tourist information

Of all the farmsteads that were located in the municipality of Chimeneas in 1789, only Tajarja was officially recognised as a town. The current Castillo de Tajarja belonged to the Marquis of Mondejar and until the 19th century the ruins of the medieval castle that gave it its name could still be seen.

These are the well-preserved remains of an Arab fortress. They are located in the centre of the town next to the church and the Casa Grande, which together create a small square.
