Calahonda belongs to the municipality of Motril and its fantastic location makes it a real tourist attraction. It has a lovely beach that is universally popular. Some parts of the town are developed and have excellent tourist services, whilst in others are unspoiled beaches surrounded by nature. You can go diving and fishing here.
A walk along the beaches of Calahonda takes you to the ruins of the Castillo de Carchuna, a Christian fortification built in the 17th century for defensive purposes.
