Ron Montero has spent over half a century developing top quality rum in the Costa Tropical. It is an area that has been closely linked to the cultivation of sugarcane and sugar production for over 1200 years.
Sugarcane has very much shaped the region’s landscape, history and industry, and has been its economic driver in recent centuries.
Ron Montero is a traditional family-run business and creates according to the Criaderas and Solera System. It produces rum of two qualities, Reserva and Gran Reserva in small amounts (240 000 litres per year), and has a limited distribution within Andalusia, other parts of Spain and abroad.
A guided tour takes you through the production process, including the alcohol that the family themselves distil, and also allows you to view the barrel room. It also offers tastings and cocktail courses and offers two special rum tours: a cultural route and gastronomic route, which has an app available on their website.
