Patron celebrations in honour of Santa Barbara

LoadingAdd to My Granada

Santa Barbara is the official patron of the city, because it was the holder of the day when Baza was taken by the army of the Catholic Kings. It starts on the 3rd of December, showing from the balconies of the City council the Royal Flag, along with the reading of a manifesto for the integration. In the evening, a concert of andalusí music takes place. The 4th of December the carving of Santa Barbara is taken on shoulders by the councilmen, preceded for the Royal Flag, from the Museum to the Main Church, where a solemn mass is celebrated. Later a wine and typical food tasting is celebrated, this act coinciding with the official opening of the different taverns.
